SUMMARY:WCARES Monthly Meeting (third Saturday)
DESCRIPTION:This year, the August meeting will be on the 15th.\nFeatured Presentation:\nYou likely know about POTA – Parks on the Air, and maybe you have activated a park or two and have learned what great fun it can be.   That’s certainly the case for Jeff KC1DWP and Jeff WB5WAJ, who have been known to collaborate on quite a few POTA activations, and some of the more recent have required a four wheel drive vehicle.   They will be giving our Featured Presentation; you won’t want to miss learning about the extra fun you can have on a real POTA Adventure!  \nIn addition, we will have two short presentations. \nThe Tennessee QSO Party is coming up on Sunday afternoon, September 6.   It is great fun.  If you have never participated in a contest before, this is one you should be sure to try, and Ted W3TB will give you an introduction on how you can do it.   \nAnd reprising a past presentation from August, 2023 that was not recorded to video, yours truly will present “New Ham HT Hints and Helps.”   There are quite a number of you in WCARES who are new to the ham radio world.  This presentation will give you some ideas you might not yet have thought about, which could help you with your Handi-Talkie (HT) when you are both transmitting and receiving.\nThe WCARES Monthly Meeting takes place the 3rd Saturday of every month with the possible exceptions of May (Hamvention) or August (Huntsville Hamfest) in which case it is held on the 2nd Saturday to allow members to attend those events. This year, the August meeting will be on the 15th.\nWe meet at the Williamson County Public Safety Center (PSC), located at:\n304 Beasley Drive in Franklin, TN.\nIf you’ve struggled telling someone how to find 304 Beasley Drive, the PSC is set back off of Beasley and you can’t see the PSC building very well from Beasley. A hint: have folks turn at the blue sign, “CHARLES R MEEK Dr.”\nMeeting starts at 8AM in the EOC.  Members periodically give presentations covering a wide range topics including emergency communications,  propagation and antennas, operating techniques and best-practices, kit building, hardware and software, Winlink, weather, ARRL, new modes and more.  Upcoming events are also discussed.\nMeet other WCARES members and learn more about WCARES and Amateur Radio.\n
