Winlink early check-in to the WCARES Net

If you have Winlink capability over RF, you can check in early to the regular Monday night nets by sending a Winlink message to WC4EOC@winlink.org, between the hours of 06:00 and 18:00 Central on the Monday of the net.

Check-ins via Winlink must be sent over radio unless you are outside the WCARES repeater coverage area and don’t have HF capability.

Include the mode you are using to send your check-in message in the subject line (for example: Winmor, Pactor, Packet.) Please also include the full date of the net you’re checking into in either the subject line or body of the message.

Like the regular nets, the first Monday of each month is Alternate Power so try to check in using an alternate power source.  Whether using alternate or commercial power for these Alternate Power nets, list your power source in at least the subject line of your check-in message.

WCARES Net

The WCARES net is held every Monday night on the WCARES repeater system.  Membership is not required to check in.

First Monday of each month is also Alternate Power, a great opportunity to test your batteries and backup generators.  Whether you have alternative power sources or not, when checking in, please provide your power source; if you forget to provide this information, Net Control will prompt you.  As always, be brief and concise:  “battery”, “ht”, “mobile”, “backup generator”, “station battery”, “commercial” etc.

Third Monday of each month has an Alternet after the regular Monday night net.  This will alternate between simplex, duplex and HF.  Check the WCARES Event calendar or listen on the regular Monday night net to find out where the Alternet will be.

Training Nets.  Periodically, topics of interest will be presented in place of the regular roster call.  These are great opportunities to hear about areas of Amateur Radio you may wish to learn more about.

Early Check-ins? Winlink is the only early check-in accepted in WCARES! Lean more about Winlink early check-in here.

Alternet: 10m

This is our monthly alternet which will take place at the end of our regular net.

In 2019, Jun 17 and Dec 16, 10m will be used for the Alternet.

Listen for instructions and any last minute changes on the regular Monday night net.
